Intermezzo Meat is a dynamic and fast-growing company that produces top quality convenience products for the food service worldwide from a modern production location in Borne.

2011

Peter Kleinhout founder Intermezzo Meat BV.

After 18 years of working as an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry, Peter thought it was enough. He was ready for a new challenge and wanted to enter the market with his passion, only spare ribs. On Saturday, before his work for the hospitality industry, he was in a barn marinating spare ribs. With his suitcase full of spare ribs, he drove through the Netherlands to ask companies if they wanted to taste his spare ribs.

Switch from grilled spare ribs to sous vide cooked spare ribs.

After a few years, Peter saw that the market was changing. There was no better quality than sous vide. By cooking the products slowly, they became tastier and kept fresh chilled for longer storage. After a period of testing, Peter was convinced that this was the way to the future.

Several more products in the range.

Because the sous vide cooked pork spare ribs was a success, Intermezzo Meat decided to add new products to the range. From the market we noticed that there was more and more demand for other sous vide cooked products. First we added extra spare ribs, such as veal spare ribs and beef short ribs. From 2021, the range of sous vide cooked products was further expanded with, such as veal picanha, ossobuco and various types of blade steak.

Opening of own factory.

After ten years of outsourcing the production processes, it was time to take control. The eye fellt on a factory in Borne, which was modernized to contemporary standards. From then on, everything went into overdrive. Shortly after, Jacky Wijnen joined our team as co-owner.

Intermezzo Meat is now a dynamic and fast-growing company, which with about 25+ employees from a modern factory, produces top quality convenience products for food service worldwide.
